Paul Andrews

Paul Andrews is based in our London Croydon office. He advises clients in the fields of chemistry and pharmaceuticals in relation to all aspects of patenting. This includes preparing new patent applications, taking those applications through to grant around the world, and advising on infringement. Paul also leads the firm’s Patent Prosecution Group. He has particular experience of the examination of patent applications in the field of chemistry, which includes advising clients on the preparation and submission of supporting experimental data.
Paul has worked with a broad range of chemical, pharmaceutical and medical technologies, including alloys, ceramics, nanotechnology (including nanoscale powders and coatings incorporating nanoparticles), plastics, petrochemicals, herbicides, fungicides, cementitious compositions, anti-inflammatory drugs, cancer diagnosis and treatment, orthopaedic devices, ostomy devices, dental implants, surgical devices and diagnostic methods. He has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, from chemicals used in oil and gas extraction to pipeline technology.
Working with a wide range of clients, Paul tailors his advice to the needs of each, whether they’re large-scale corporations or small to medium-sized enterprises.
After completing a Masters Degree in Chemistry at the University of Bristol, Paul worked in research and development in the pharmaceutical industry, firstly for Pfizer and later for GlaxoSmithKline. He joined the patent profession in 2003, and began working for Murgitroyd in 2010.
Paul is a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, as well as being a Chartered Chemist and Chartered Scientist. He’s involved in IP education, both within the firm and externally, and has given lectures on IP to business students at the University of Kingston.
