Patent Scientist
Michael Robinson specialises in advanced materials, including high-performance materials like polymers and alloys. He works with a variety of clients, ranging from entrepreneurs and SMEs to established international brands, as well as both private and public research institutions.
Having worked across a mix of academic and industrial environments, Michael has developed a deep understanding of their respective interests, in addition to the opportunities created through cross-collaboration. He also has first-hand experience of general engineering and manufacturing, having previously worked in a manufacturing consultancy and on several collaborative industry-academia projects. Michael has had several journal papers published in the field of advanced materials and his PhD focused on the development of a novel motorcycle helmet, exploring the potential of an additively manufactured elastomeric cellular structure.
Michael is currently expanding his practice to the civil and medical fields, capitalising on his practical experience of developing new products within the scope of existing and new patents.
Michael joined Murgitroyd in 2022 and is currently working towards qualifying as a Chartered and European Patent Attorney.
