Anne Bashir
Director, Trade Marks
After completing a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Anne Bashir went on to complete a Masters degree in the Management of Intellectual Property at the University of London. She then worked for International Computers Limited, reviewing the intellectual property aspects of R&D and joint venture agreements, until she commenced her training as a trade mark attorney.
When she qualified, Anne joined Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) as a qualified trade mark attorney, involved in all aspect of trade marks, and due diligence surrounding disposals, mergers and acquisitions in particular. After ten years in the industry, Anne joined Fitzpatricks in private practice, then Murgitroyd. She now has more than 13 years of experience in private practice.
Anne has advised companies of all sizes (SMEs and large corporates) on all aspects of their IP – trade marks, copyright, design rights and passing off (including licences, agreements, due diligence and dispute resolution). She has extensive experience representing clients in oppositions and applications for invalidity before the UK Intellectual Property Office. She has also supported clients in litigation before the Scottish courts in particular, as a result of which she is familiar with the relevant aspects of both English and Scots law.
Today, Anne supports a diverse range of clients in a variety of fields including, but not limited to; Professional institutes and finance companies, entertainment, manufacturing and retail, IT, online gaming, beauty and fashion, oil and gas, agriculture and farming as well as water treatment and chemical processing.
Anne is based in the Glasgow Office.
